John Baker

Chairman, Monash Enterprise Centre

John has been the chairman of the board for over 10 years since the incubator first opened. As a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors he can claim that the business principles put in place for the running of the incubator have made it the pre-eminent business incubator in Australia. Directorships on other boards have given John a wide range of experience that he has been able to use effectively at the Centre. John will try to continue to increase the size of the incubator to enable more businesses to embrace the success the incubator engenders.

 

  

Cr Charlotte Baines

Councillor, City of Monash, Mulgrave Ward

Charlotte was first elected to the Council of the City of Monash in the November 2005 elections and re-elected in the November 2008 elections. Charlotte served as Deputy Mayor from 2008-2009. On the 9th December 2009 Charlotte became the youngest female mayor in the city's history at 27 years of age. She has lived in Mulgrave Ward her entire life. In professional life, Charlotte is a qualified lawyer and PhD candidate in the Sociology Department at Monash University.

As an experienced Councillor in the City of Monash, Charlotte believes in open and transparent government that actively engages the community in key decision making processes and goals.

Charlotte currently serves on a number of Council Committees, including the Monash Enterprise Centre’s Board of Directors.

 

 

Don Cameron

Don has worked in Local Government for over 35 years, having worked for Salisbury Council in South Australia before returning to Victoria. He spent time at Eltham Council before moving to Camberwell Council, where he spent some 10 years. He was recruited to the former Waverley Council (now City of Monash) in 1989 and retired as Director of City Development in October 2008.

Having had the vision for the inception of the Monash Enterprise Centre, Don is delighted to remain a Board Member.

 

 

Paul Kearsley

Director, City Development, City of Monash

Paul’s current responsibilities at the City of Monash include Urban Design, Transport & Infrastructure Planning, Traffic & Local Laws, Building Approvals, Statutory & Strategic Planning and Economic Development.

Paul has over twenty years’ experience in State, Local Government and private consulting. The experience has been obtained at the Cities of Essendon, Cairns, Casey, Yarra and Whitehorse, with private consulting experience as an Associate Director at Urbis.

Paul joined the board of the MEC following his appointment as Director of City Development at the City of Monash in November 2008.

 

Robert Lo

Principal, Lawsons Chartered Accountants

Robert is a Chartered Accountant with Lawsons Chartered Accountants. Robert has 29 years experience in the accounting profession, 16 of those as a principal.
He is also a Fellow of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK).
Robert is a founding member of the Monash Business Awards and currently serves on the Board of the Monash Enterprise Centre.

 

Cr Greg Male

Mayor, City of Monash

On 19th December 2010 Greg was elected as the Mayor for 2010/2011.
Born in Jordanville in the late 1950's Greg has been a long term resident of the City and has lived in the Glen Waverley ward since 1983.

A former Finance Executive Greg currently operates his own consultancy business engaging clients from the business, not for profit and personal sectors.

Having qualifications in the Community Services sector and being an active volunteer and community worker for over 25 years has enabled Greg to assist in the opportunity continue to improve the community capacity of our community.
Greg also is a

  • Member of the Board of the Monash Enterprise Centre
  • Honorary Justice for the State of Victoria

Greg's aspiration for the City of Monash continues to be one that aims to ensure that Monash remains a safe, clean and vibrant city that provides quality services to its residents.

 

 

 

Jeff McAlpine

Manager Economic Development, City of Monash

Jeff is the Manager of Economic Development at the City of Monash and has a comprehensive background in Town Planning, Environmental Studies and is registered as a Corporate Lawyer.

He is also a member of the Economic Development Forum, Ex-Offico member of the Monash Enterprise Centre Board and is Council's representative on the Melbourne South-East Councils. He has also served on the Committee of the Monash Business Awards since November 2004.

 

 

 

Cr Tom Morrissey


Cr Morrissey was first elected to the City of Waverley Council in 1990. He was elected to the Monash City Council in 1997, 2000, 2005 and 2008. Cr Morrissey was previously Mayor of the City of Monash 2001-2 and was elected Mayor for a second term in December 2006. He was awarded the Centenary Medal for services to Local Government in 2002.
Married to Lorraine for 40 years, he has two daughters and four granddaughters.
Tom Morrissey has always lived in the area. Following his secondary education at Jordanville Technical College, he became a plumber and started, and still operates, Burwood Plumbing. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Waverley and an Honorary Justice of the Peace.
Tom serves on a number of committees for the City of Monash, including the Board of the Monash Enterprise Centre. 

 

 

John Muscat

Manager, Monash Enterprise Centre.

With experience in sales, finance and management, and having had his own business, John understands the needs of small business. It now gives him great satisfaction in helping so many small businesses on their way to achieving their ultimate goals. In managing the Centre, John ensures that the Monash Business Incubator provides a professional environment, offering serviced office space with a difference. With advice, support and encouragement for our resident and small businesses working from a different location, we offer opportunities for businesses to be part of a small business community.

Dianne Taylor

Director and Founder of Sirius Business

Dianne joined the Monash Enterprise Centre’s Board of Directors in March 2011. Dianne is Director and Founder of Sirius Business, a management and leadership consultancy, training and coaching business with clients in a range of industries. Dianne was previously the co-founder of an engineering business that grew to employ 30 people and serviced blue-chip clients in Australia and internationally. She is a former lecturer in the Department of Management at Monash University, having graduated from Monash University’s Master in Human Resource Management with Dean’s Honours and being awarded the highest achieving graduate in the Masters, and in the Department of Management in 2009. Dianne is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management and a member of the Australian Institute of Human Resource Management, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the International Coach Federation.

Dianne is passionate about helping people and organisations discover and realise their potential, and is looking forward to supporting small businesses and their owners as part of the MEC Board.
